Dallas, TX, March 27, 2023 —
RLG Consulting Engineers has a distinguished 70-year history of providing quality work to municipalities in Texas and other states. Regardless of the scope or discipline of a project, RLG strives to deliver high-quality engineering design and survey services that provide value to clients while staying within schedule and budget.
Our civil, structural, and survey project managers at RLG are trained to not only provide quality work but also to exceed expectations by identifying issues and offering solutions that benefit both clients and partners. For example, RLG's civil department was assigned to work on two simultaneous projects in the City of North Richland Hills: Smithfield Elementary and Northeast Parkway extension.
The Smithfield Elementary School project was located immediately north of the Northeast Parkway Extension project. Although the extension project did not include water and wastewater scope, RLG included this in the school project, with utilities falling within the roadway extension. The design of both projects was closely intertwined, and RLG performed detailed cut/fill analysis to ensure that the roadway project and school project were both balanced within each individual phase. By over-excavating in the school project, RLG produced a balanced project from roadway to school, taking into account the intimate relationship between the grading of the road, the grading of the school, and the desired elevation of the school by the city and client. RLG detailed the phasing of the project in a way that did not obstruct construction activities for either project, despite being constructed by two different contractors.
On many occasions, all three disciplines collaborate on a project, as seen with the Richardson Senior Center. RLG provided structural engineering, civil engineering, and survey services for the Richardson Senior Center renovation project. The civil site work involved adding a new fire loop, improving drainage, and enhancing pedestrian accessibility by removing stairs and ramps at the main entry. Arapaho Road renovations included a new turn lane and new drive configuration that improved site access. This former bank building underwent a significant renovation project that included the removal of existing concrete vault walls, the reframe and infill of a portion of the floor slab, and additional framing to support hanging foldable partitions. Additionally, existing columns were removed to provide more open and flexible floor space for the owner and end-users. The building entrance was improved with a new Porte Cochere entrance, and the choice of construction materials complemented and added to the overall experience.
In conclusion, RLG Consulting Engineers is an experienced firm that has worked with several municipalities, including the City of University Park, the City of Richardson, and the City of Irving. Their focus on providing high-quality engineering design and survey services has earned them a reputation for excellence. RLG's project managers are trained to identify problems and offer solutions that benefit both the client and their partners. Examples of RLG's ability to provide civil, structural, and survey services that are closely intertwined and result in successful outcomes include the Smithfield Elementary and Northeast Parkway extension projects and the Richardson Senior Center renovation project. RLG's commitment to quality, schedule, and budget will continue to provide value to their clients and partners in the future.
