RLG has amazing employees in its ranks: from industry influencers, travelers, marathon runners, animal lovers, and community leaders. The Employee Spotlight highlights the talented individuals who work here. Each week, we’ll be featuring an interview here on the blog and on our social accounts.
For this week’s Employee Spotlight, we spoke with Michael Crowe. Here at RLG, Michael Crowe is an Engineer on the Structural Team.
I was born in North Carolina and moved to Texas 22 years ago and counting. I studied engineering and architecture at Texas Tech University where I received my B.S. in Civil Engineering, B.S. in Architecture, and M.S. in Civil Engineering. In my free time I enjoy camping with friends and going to estate sales in search of long-lost treasures. I also enjoy traveling particularly to visit family in England.
How long have you been at RLG? 4 years including my internship, 2 years of which I have been full time.
How did you hear about RLG? Why did you want to work here? RLG goes to the Texas Tech job fair so I heard about them through that. I applied because RLG has a structural department which works on a diverse range of projects.
What is the most challenging project you've worked on during your time here so far? Dallas Country Club Fitness Center. It has 3 levels of concrete each more unique and challenging than the last.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned at RLG? The trickiest issues of the week always present themselves at 4:45 PM on a Friday.
What’s your favorite thing about working in your Department here? A fun team and fully stocked beer fridge.
What's the first thing that you do when you start working every day? Get a glass of water.
What’s your workspace like? Utilitarian with an increasing number of knick knacks.
Do you have a go-to sound or song that you listen to when you need to just start working? Irish music or EDM.
If RLG announced a last-minute day off for tomorrow, what would you do with your suddenly free day? Barbeque some ribs and take a nap in my hammock.
What would you do if you weren’t working at RLG? I would probably be an antique dealer.
