RLG has amazing employees in its ranks: from industry influencers, travelers, marathon runners, animal lovers, and community leaders. The Employee Spotlight highlights the talented individuals who work here. Each week, we’ll be featuring an interview here on the blog and on our social accounts.
For this week’s Employee Spotlight, we spoke with Abdullah Emad. Here at RLG, Abdullah is a Engineer on the Civil Team.
I am a first generation, oldest of three boys, college graduate from Texas Tech University. I was born and raised in Dallas and enjoy staying active, working on cars, and supporting America’s team through thick and thin.
How long have you been at RLG? 5 years
How did you hear about RLG? Why did you want to work here? I found RLG on the Texas Tech Alumni’s job grid. I was in construction at my previous firm and wanted to work somewhere that would count towards my experience for engineering licensure. I saw RLG had done design work at my high school, and I reached out to Stephen shortly thereafter.
What is the most challenging project you've worked on during your time here so far? Smithfield Elementary School/Northeast Parkway Extension. Two large projects for two different clients that needed balanced sites and two different sets of plans for two different construction phases.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned at RLG? Learning doesn’t stop after school. It’s just getting started.
What’s your favorite thing about working in your Department here? Having projects and clients that have a direct impact on the local community that I was brought up in. Particularly education projects for schools that I used to compete with growing up. Life has come full circle.
What's the first thing that you do when you start working every day? Sanitize my phone.
What’s your workspace like? Organized chaos!
Do you have a go-to sound or song that you listen to when you need to just start working? Jambi-Tool
If RLG announced a last-minute day off for tomorrow, what would you do with your suddenly free day? Sand/Grass Volleyball.
What would you do if you weren’t working at RLG? Medicine or own a car shop.
